The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award available to Girl Scouts, and is received by completing a leadership project in which you create a sustainable program that benefits your community, and the world. This website is created as part of a Girl Scout Gold Award project, whose purpose is to engage boys and girls in the sport of volleyball.
My project addressed the issue with the lack of volleyball programs offered within my community. Girls and boys are being deprived of the opportunity to experience and learn the wonderful game of volleyball. Not only is volleyball a great sport but it is also a great way to stay active. My clinic was offered to grades fifth through eighth. I taught them all the basic skills and rules needed to be a successful volleyball player. During each clinic I saw a major improvement and hoped that they would continue pursuing this sport even after the clinic ended. By exposing children at an early age to this sport allows them to experience a new opportunity. This single opportunity can grow into a lifestyle resulting in trying out for middle and high school teams.
